NAB's flexible workspace headquarters named best office in Australia.
Forsaking traditional desks and offices for flexible workspace stations, where employees sit in different spots and use different computers each day, is a relatively new trend in Australia, but one that has paid off for National Australia Bank.
The bank has just been rated the best office workspace in Australia by the Building Occupant Satisfaction Survey Australia, a benchmarking tool that ranks top performing office workplaces. Supported by Sydney University and the University of Technology Sydney, the survey rates about 60 of Australia's premium "ivy league" buildings for air quality, comfort, noise, temperature, connection to the outdoors, and for their effect on employees' health and productivity.
NAB's headquarters at 700 Bourke Street in Melbourne's Docklands houses more than 6000 of the bank's employees. Designed by Woods Bagot, the two year old building has been awarded a six star Green Star rating. As well as its flexible workspaces, the office also features informal meeting spaces, collaborative tables, quiet rooms and team huddle spaces.
