Planchonella House in tropical North Queensland wins top architecture award.
Architect and builder Jesse Bennett and his family lived on-site with a camp shower and small camping stove for over 12 months while their home, Planchonella House, was being built in tropical North Queensland. Bennett's project has just won the Robin Dods Award for Residential Architecture - Houses (New) at the 2015 Queensland State Architecture Awards. Perched on a hill surrounded by rainforest, the beautiful home incorporates a simple palette of materials including concrete floors, glass and one type of hardwood timber used throughout. Bennett said he wanted to create a dwelling that enabled the occupants to "live simply in the landscape."
