Sunland has submitted plans for two striking towers designed by one of the world's most lauded architects to the Gold Coast City Council for approval. The developer wants to build the two towers, designed by British-Iraqi architect Dame Zaha Hadid, at the redevelopment of Mariner's Cove, a prime waterfront site overlooking Broadwater that is home to Sea World resort.

Hadid received the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004—the first woman to do so—and the Stirling Prize in 2010 and 2011. This is her second Australian commission after she designed Grace on Coronation, a trio of towers in Toowong, which were just approved by Brisbane City Council.

The two towers will be 44 storeys each, comprising 370 apartments and a boutique hotel with 69 suites. The $600 million development will also include a privately owned cultural precinct complete with an art gallery, museum, outdoor sculpture gardens and an underground aquarium.
