REISA CEO sends a warning to agents in South Australia about poaching clients.
Real estate agents in South Australia are not complying with their obligations when it comes to poaching each other's business, according to the Real Estate Institute of South Australia. REISA CEO Greg Troughton has said the institute has received information that members are breaching the profession's guidelines when it comes to Behind the Sign activity, which is defined in the Code as any act of a practitioner approaching another practitioner's client to solicit business.
"The Code explicitly states that a practitioner should not solicit clients of other practitioners or engage in Behind the Sign behaviour (with the exception of mass deliveries of promotional material which includes a disclaimer such as 'As this is part of a general promotion, please disregard this letter if you have already retained another real estate agent'," said Troughton.
"REISA takes this matter seriously and will enforce the code to its fullest extent should any member be found wanting in this area. Principals are reminded that they remain responsible for the actions of their non-member staff."
