The REIWA has welcomed the addition of micro-lots to Perth's housing stock, saying they offer an alternative to the city's traditional housing and high-density inner-city homes.
The REIWA has welcomed the addition of 11 micro-lot sites in Ellenbrook to housing stock in Perth.
The new sites were opened yesterday by the Minister for Housing, Veterans Issues, Youth, Peter Tinley.
Lots of less than 100sqm in size provide an affordable entry into the property market, but still allow the freedom of green title housing, said REIWA president Hayden Groves.
“These example lots in Ellenbrook will act as a guide for future development," said Groves, noting that the WA Planning Commission’s recent paper sets out criteria for developing micro-lots with specific design and location criteria.
Micro-lots are intended as a "gateway" option that lies between high-density suburban centres and the traditional housing model.
“The opening of the micro-lot sites in Ellenbrook is another step in the State Government’s Affordable Housing Action Plan," said Groves.
