Di Jones Real Estate's volunteer work in the southern highlands has raised enough money to train three new midwives in Barhir dar, Ethiopia.
Di Jones donated candles to the Bowral Christmas Carols, raising $3,400, according to Barbara May Foundation General Manager, Joanne Crowley.
“The funds raised will train three midwives in the city of Barhir dar, Ethiopia – which not only gives these young women a lifelong profession, but also a paying job and great personal pride," said Crowley.
“These young women become ambassadors in their own villages helping empower other young women to gain further education.
“They improve the quality of their communities while helping women have dignity and safety in childbirth – something we take so much for granted in our first world,” said Crowley.
Di Jones CEO Rob Ward supports volunteer work in the agency, and encouraged "team members and offices to get behind a charity". He said the Barbara May Foundation is one of many organisations the agency supports.
Di Jones also supports the Clown Doctors Christmas Appeal, which helps sick children.
