American architect Dr Kristien Ring's World Architecture Day oration at the Sydney Architecture Festival on 2 October will be titled 'From profit-driven, to people-led housing for Sydney'.
Sydney Architecture Festival has announced that American architect Dr Kristien Ring will present the 2017 World Architecture Day oration 'From profit-driven, to people-led housing for Sydney' on 2 October.
Dr Ring proposes a citizen-led housing model that could help Sydney deliver well-designed affordable housing that can cost between 15%–30% less that existing housing stock.
Dr Ring is an architect, curator, and author. She was originally from Pittsburgh in the US, but has lived in Berlin since 1991. Her interdisciplinary studio, AA PROJECTS, examines forward-looking themes in architecture and urban planning. Her research examines how densification can improve cities.
The keynote speech will be delivered on the final day of the festival, 2 October.
The 2017 Sydney Architecture Festival commences on Friday 29 September, and will be headquartered at 1PSQ, in the Peter Shergold Building at Western Sydney University, only 100 metres from Parramatta train station.
