Zaha Hadid’s South Beach, Miami, condo in the W Hotel is for sale for US$10 million (AU$13 million), and will hold great appeal for architecture aficionados.

Hadid bought the apartment shortly after the W Hotel opened in 2009, and regularly holidayed there.

"It is well known that Zaha Hadid dearly loved living in her residence in Miami Beach," writes listing agent Rex Hamilton of The Rex Hamilton Corporation.

She went to the South Beach apartment “to relax, create and entertain,” Hamilton writes.

Hadid is one of the world's best-known architects. Born in Iraq, most of her career was spent in the UK. In 2004, she became the first woman to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize. Her designs include the aquatics center for the 2012 London Olympics, the Guangzhou Opera House in China, and the One Thousand Museum in Miami, which is currently under construction. (A full-floor apartment in the One Thousand Museum is currently on the market for US$20.485 million.)

Hadid died of a heart attack in March 2016.

The eighth-floor, three-bedroom apartment combines two floor plans, and was remodelled by the architect herself. The apartment features classic Hadid curves, and is filled with natural light. Balconies wrap the east and south sides of the apartment and have endless view of the Pacific. There is a self-contained guest apartment.

Hadid’s own furniture and decor remains in the apartment, and most is available for sale.

"To celebrate her favorite home away from home, she filled it with her favorite extraordinary furniture, creations and art, which reflect the light and energy of her home," said Hamilton.

A polished plexiglass dining room table and a twin coffee table are her own design. Dubbed the Liquid Glacial Table, the golden swirls within them reflect the sunshine flooding into the apartment.
