Leading real estate agency, Gunning, has hired Robert Maher to expand its presence in the Sutherland Shire.
Leading commercial, retail and industrial real estate agency, Gunning, has hired a dedicated Sutherland Shire agent to service the area.
Robert Maher, a resident of the Sutherland Shire for the last 22 years, has taken on sales and leasing in the thriving location.
“I approached Gunning after a review of the agencies operating in the Shire. I felt there was a gap in the market and having worked and lived in the area for the past two decades, I could see this is where I wanted to focus my efforts,” Maher said.
“I was looking for a family organisation with the right scale, tenure and brand. Gunning values their customers and I wanted work with an agency that has integrity and a track record.
“Gunning previously had a presence in the Shire before the GFC, but had scaled back their operation. They recognised I was the right person to lead the resurgence," he said.
“I think the people of the Shire need a refreshing change. They don't typically get the level of service that is provided to clients in the inner city,” said Maher.
He said the area is ripe with potential.
“There are lots of businesses in the Shire seeking property to meet their needs, and residents looking to downsize. I have never seen so many sites ripe for development, especially following the changes to the Local Environmental Plan, particularly with zoning and density.
“Success for us is to operate on the front foot with progressive developments and we will be looking at sites proactively,” said Maher.
Maher will be supported by Gunning’s Hurstville and inner-city offices. He has 30 years of experience and achievement in the property and finance industries. He held senior positions at large organisations including the National Australia Bank and the Bank of Queensland, and has held pivotal roles in medium-to-small enterprises, including Century 21 Real Estate. Maher has also advised the NSW Government on national property and finance projects.
