Known as Mirror Image, this newly built Dover Heights home offers a 4-bedroom family sanctuary with ocean views, completed late 2021. 

Designed by architects Van Rooijen Meyer, with interiors by Smac Studio, the home was shortlisted for the 2022 Australian Interior Design Awards.

Interior architect Shona McElroy, Smac Studio Principal, told LUXURY LIST WEEKEND that Mirror Image is one of the studio's most personal and proudest achievements in design to date.

Interiors showcase Shona's natural inclination towards modern design with an old-world European edge - as seen in details including Venetian plaster walls, Elba marble accents and herringbone floors.

A curved marble staircase sits at the entrance, while outside, a north-facing mosaic tiled pool and garden with landscaping by Dangar Barin Smith soaks up the sunshine.

The overall effect is reminiscent of a European or New York-style hotel.

The home's owner says, “In my job I see a lot of stunning houses, but this is the first time I’ve been satisfied with what I have. I come home and think there’s nowhere else I’d rather live.”

Speaking to LUXURY LIST WEEKEND, Suteekshna Mishra of Van Rooijen Meyer said, “84 Liverpool Street, was a challenging project given the site and what the client wished to achieve within that space.”

“The stunning outcome is a culmination of tireless efforts not only from VRM Architects working with the client, but also from the builder Airth Building, the engineer, and most importantly Shona McElroy from Smac who was instrumental in getting the aesthetics of the house perfectly synchronous with the architectural elements and adding that touch of Luxe.”

The Quartzite kitchen features cantilevered Esmeralda kitchen island that can seat four face-to-face, as well as pantry, burnished brass fixtures including a rangehood and television cabinet, and designer light fittings by Christopher Boots and Gervasoni.

Four bedrooms are positioned on the upper level, including the Master bedroom with walk-in robe, ensuite, dressing table and private balcony.

The lower level enjoys a rumpus room/study, with open plan living and dining opening to a north facing deck, with in-built BBQ and lush level lawn.
