The grand Victorian mansion Huntingfield, owned by former Grand Prix boss and Melbourne Lord Mayor, Ron Walker, has been sold by Gowan Stubbings, Gerald Delany and Jamie Mi of Kay & Burton following an expressions of interest campaign.

Mr Walker, one of Victoria’s most influential figures, purchased 55 Albany Road in 1981, engaging award-winning architect firm Bates Smart to design their six-bedroom family home reminiscent of a grand European estate.

The entrance is adorned with a cornerstone laid in 1998 by Jeff Kennett, former Victorian Premier, in the presence of former Victorian Governor James Gobbo, former Prime Minister John Howard and former Australian Ambassador to the USA Andrew Peacock.

Huntingfield hit the market in early May with a $55- $60 million price guide after the Walker family made the difficult decision to find a new custodian for their much-loved family home.

Speaking to LUXURY LIST WEEKEND, Gowan Stubbings said the successful EOI campaign ran across six weeks culminating in multiple offers at the close. 

“It was a true global campaign, we fielded enquiry from local, interstate, offshore, expat and mainland Chinese buyers. We had extensive interest from people who wanted to inspect the home,” Gowan explained.
