This designer Ashfield home with superb enviro-awareness has been sold by Shad Hassen and Danny Hassen of The Agency for $3.7m prior to auction.

The 4-bedroom, single level home was envisioned by multiple AIA award-winning architect Rachel Neeson of acclaimed firm Neeson Murcutt + Neille, for her parents, and features pre-loved materials, including bricks and roof tiles recycled from an old red brick shed knocked down by the family prior to the renovation.

Speaking to LUXURY LIST, Shad Hassen said 79 groups came through the home for inspection during the 4-week auction campaign. The home was sold above estimate just prior to the auction.

“The excellent design offered an atypical Ashfield home, coupled with Rachel’s name, appealing to buyers who were looking for an edgy, funky and different residence, with a tasteful and practical design.”

Positioned on approx. 716sqm, the home has a great relationship with the outdoors, including a garden was designed by landscape architect Jane Irwin, offering a wide appeal to a number of different buyer demographics.
“It was popular amongst young families looking to get into Ashfield and also downsizers from multi-level homes wanting to live in a single level home,” Shad explained to LUXURY LIST.

The home was purchased by an Annandale family with two children.
Shad told LUXURY LIST the area was seeing interest from across Sydney, as buyers look for additional space.
“We are seeing strong interest from people wanting to move into larger homes with more space and amenity,” Shad explained. “Buyers are looking for a single property to do more for them; as well as a home they want somewhere to entertain and comfortably work from, as well as a relaxing place of sanctuary that can also double as their holiday home with no need to travel. We are finding most of our enquiry comes from the Inner West, then the East and also the Lower North Shore.”
