Speaking to LUXURY LIST WEEKEND, Sydney-based Luigi Rosselli said he had been impressed with the quality of the local architects for years before accepting the brief for this project, his first in Brisbane.

“I was in a national architectural jury some years ago and noticed that Queensland architects, particularly those in Brisbane, were the best in Australia, so I decided to accept a perfect brief for this project on the Brisbane River,” he said.

The sketch above was the original concept for the home, and the concept was faithfully executed, including the palm trees.

“We are proud of our front idea, with simple volumes with the skill and beauty of the stonework and a generous level garden,” Luigi told LUXURY LIST WEEKEND.

"This house is designed as a long-ship ashore, with three decks overlooking the river,” he explained. 

“The lower level has a swimming pool and a floating stair; the second level is the main entertaining area with plenty of space for the deck chairs; and the top floor has the Captain’s bridge extruded out of the master bedroom.”

Luigi and his team are currently working on three other projects in Brisbane and, he says, they look forward to seeing them built.

“The climate and environment are ideal, the council and approval process are a dream next to Sydney, and the clients are mostly relaxed and friendly. Ideal conditions for a successful design. We also brought to Brisbane some new and fresh skills including our best sandstone mason from Sydney and more rigorous waterproofing methods,” he told LUXURY LIST WEEKEND.

Setting the luxurious standard from the outset, the grand sandstone-clad facade sits behind a gated entry and landscaped gardens by Grow Collective.
