Speaking to LUXURY LIST WEEKEND, owner Celia said the property took 5 years of planning and 3 years to build, accommodating a stunning upper master ensuite bedroom with deck and water views, three double bedrooms plus a separate guest wing with ensuite bedroom, outdoor bath and its own lounge. 

“We have been thrilled with the end result. We have loved our 15 years at Pahoia and are sad to be leaving.”

Celia said she and partner Philip immediately fell in love with the property. 

“It was a big move from a magnificent 3 story homestead with an acre of beautiful gardens in the middle of Palmerston North. But we decided we wanted something completely different, near the water, with water views and Pohutukawas out over the water. After searching most of the North Island we came upon the property at Pahoia. We fell in love with it and purchased it then and there.”  

“Philip immediately set about engaging a landscape designer and early on we planted a grove of kauri trees, which 20 years on look amazing. We were lucky enough to get Warren and Mahoney as our architects and wanted to build something completely different to the house in Palmerston, we also wanted to build something in keeping with New Zealand and our coastal landscape, maximizing the Harbour views.”

“It’s also been lots of fun over the years driving our amphibious boat from the house down to the Harbour and across to the Mount for lunch with friends - only 10 minutes by sea!”
