The "uniquely private getaway" will be sold at Ray White Surfers Paradise's annual auction showcase, The Event, on 29 January through Josh Thomas.
Perfectly positioned on the scenic mountainside, 'Eagles Retreat' was designed and built by owners Brett and Denise McMahon in 2008 in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture.
Bespoke design, comfortable luxury, and attention to detail was of utmost importance in the creation of the home, from the soaring ceilings to the heated flooring. Panoramic views from Moreton Bay to Byron Bay make every room a pleasure.
The McMahons' are selling the home at Ray White Surfers Paradise's annual auction showcase - The Event - on January 29. They plan to travel around America after the sale.
"We're excited to be a part of The Event as it's the best time of year to sell to people who are looking for quality property," said Mr McMahon.
"One of the reasons we moved here is the views of the Surfers Paradise skyline from Eagles Retreat. They are comparable with those of the Harbour Bridge from our last home in Point Piper," said Mr McMahon.
The 'great room' is the heart of the house. It effortlessly combines dining, lounge, snooker and games areas, while remaining in contact with the kitchen, terrace, pool and spa.
"The great room allows for everyone to do their own thing, whether that's toasting marshmallows in the fire, watching a game on TV, cooking or playing snooker. Everyone can still be together and enjoy each other's company," said Mr McMahon.
The floor-to-ceiling bifold doors allow seamless indoor/outdoor flow and lead to an enormous terrace that extends the full width of the house. An entertainer's dream, the terrace has heated flooring, a 13-metre lap pool, a heated spa, and a giant chess set. The sunken, built-in heated lounge allows you and your guests to enjoy the spectacular sunrises and sunsets in year-round comfort.
The kitchen is a delight, featuring Smeg and Meile appliances, Zeus granite bench tops, Germancraft cabinetry, underfloor heating, and, of course, hinterland and coastal views.
The guest wing has three beautifully appointed king ensuite bedrooms, while the master wing includes a spa bath, dressing room, and study.
"We designed the home for eight people; six guests and two owners," said Mr McMahon.
"When it's just my wife and I, we can shut off the guest wing to create a cosy feeling in our own luxurious apartment. When we have guests, we simply open the doors and have this beautifully appointed entertaining space to enjoy," he said.
Conveniently located, this private oasis is only a short walk to the shops, 20 minutes to the M1, and an hour to Brisbane or the Gold Coast airport.
The home also features 2.5 acres of landscaped gardens and a fully plumbed workshop/gymnasium, office or studio with separate entry.
The auction will be held on Sunday 29 January at 11:00am, at the Gold Coast Turf Club, Bundall.
