Steven Chen Co-founder of The Agency successfully sold 178 Hopetoun Avenue Vaucluse for over $35m, more than double the price paid by the vendors in 2018.

This Vaucluse residence boasting magnificent harbour views and direct access to the golden sands of Gibson's Beach has been sold by Steven Chen of The Agency just 4 days after listing. Due to confidentiality agreements, Steven is unable to comment on the specifics of the sale, but the home was reported to have been sold for over $35m.

Encompassing 3 levels of living and entertaining, the stunning residence has been completely designed and created by renowned architect Michael Suttor and is further enhanced by the inclusion of a championship tennis court and a 20m heated swimming pool.

On listing, the home attracted 80 enquiries in three days, with 7 private inspections over the weekend and Monday.

The vendors, who purchased the home for $17m in 2018, were consistent and firm with price expectations over $35 million.

"While some people were discouraged by the price guide, this was not the time to negotiate," Steven explained to LUXURY LIST. "One astute client was precise in what they wanted and moved very quickly to secure the home."

The buyers were well qualified, bona fide purchasers and the contracted was negotiated in 24 hours.

Steven told LUXURY LIST, "The home was popular because the marketing was on point and led with the beautiful hero image showing all the estate’s amazing assets, including the classic Suttor design, swimming pool, tennis court and level grassy area."

"A comprehensive pallette of photography with considered text flowed together, giving an overall impression of the grandeur of the home."

Michael Suttor told LUXURY LIST the property was previously occupied by the Vaucluse Police Station.

“178 Hopetoun Avenue was designed in the French Provincial architectural style, with French Canal tile cladding on the roof," Michael explained to LUXURY LIST. "The contemporary floor plan maximises the home’s living areas and entertaining space.”

All levels are connected with an internal lift. Other features include high definition security cameras and monitoring system, fully integrated reverse cycle air conditioning throughout and extensive storage.
