Crafted from unlikely collaboration the Darley Street home for sale by Nathan Briggs and Brad Gillespie of The Agency.
Set on an approx. 284sqm parcel with 7.9 metres of frontage, this freestanding Newtown residence is positioned metres away from vibrant King Street and Sydney Park.
Source: The AgencyThe versatile home has undergone an architectural redesign, showcasing a palette of warm earthy hues, classic modern accents and state-of-the-art natural materials to offer a sense of space and seclusion.
The two-level home’s innovative layout features an expansive newly built section, in addition to the two huge rooms plus wet bar/living room of the original build.
The renovation was designed by a perhaps unlikely partnership between the owners and the husband’s ex-girlfriend.
"People are quite surprised when I tell them our home was designed with my husband’s ex-girlfriend, it was a no brainer for us to work with Allison Williams of Green Apple Interiors and Design. Allison knows us both very well, she has impeccable taste, and we all get along great," the owners told LUXURY LIST.
Source: The Agency"Coming from a design project management background, and lover of great design, I knew Allison could help us navigate the fine line of wanting to create a home for entertaining that had a wow factor, but still had warmth and homeliness. Had texture and depth, but also was clean and somewhat minimal. Allison focused on spatial design around our everyday living from the inside out, along with key finishes and features. Whilst I worked on styling, sourcing hard to find finishes, along with logistics and project management."
"Our favourite feature is the void and mezzanine that opens up to showcase the double height brick wall. Designed pre-Covid, it was ahead of its time with a home office tucked away in the mezzanine, and a great sense of expansiveness and integration from inside to out in both summer and winter."

“Everyone visiting the home invariably says, ‘Wow, this is amazing!’ Not many properties in Newtown are this wide, particularly with the side areas, making it very unique.”

Outside, the home benefits from a deck and pergola oasis immersed in lush botanical surrounds plus a substantial renovated shed, with repurposed heritage materials cleverly integrated into the exterior.
Other details include electric highlight windows, bespoke bathrooms and lighting, claw foot bath, charming exposed brickwork and freestanding Lopi fireplace.

"Understanding how these guys live was a huge opportunity that didn't go to waste. To deliver a design, reflecting the energy of this young family, that was not only functional and durable but engaging and exciting was paramount," Allison explained to LUXURY LIST.
"We met every planning and design constraint together, head on and with an attitude of "Let's turn this around and have some fun with it", allowing for opportunities for quirky storage or living spaces that are surprising and effective. The house is a little bit like the surrounding area itself, a blend of Heritage and Modern elements brought together with lots of texture and a few unexpected "WOW" moments in the interior - like the double height, wraparound void anchored by the giant double height brick wall."
