What was your experience with the events of 2020 and what are your predictions about the 2021 market in your area?
2020 has been like a mixed bag of liquorice all sorts. 2021 hasn’t got big shoes to fill, that’s for sure! In saying that, so many of us have great expectations of getting life back on track now that Victorians are starting to be less restricted. I believe we are going to see a more settled and balanced market here along the Bay and by no means am I suggesting any sort of market drops, but buyers are realistic, they know how much it is going to cost them to get into the area and they are prepared to pay for it.
Having worked previously in buyers’ advocacy, I understand what the expectations are of agents, and as a selling agent, I also understand what expected of a buyer. Communication is key, it’s always key and that means listening as well as talking.

Go with the agent you trust. Trust is such a massive factor we often overlook. Go with the agent that you trust will represent you for your needs
What advice do you give buyers?
Don’t play the game. Be straight, work with the agents. We want to find you something, preferably on our books but most of us just want to find buyers what they are looking for.

I have four children and a kelpie, so outside of work they keep me fairly busy. When my husband and I have time, we love day-tripping around Victoria, in particular rural produce outlets and wineries.
I love local, family and architectural history and in my spare time I like to write. I have written a couple of novels, including one that I have self published, 'Finding Home'. For over five years I have been researching a family story about my Great Grandmother. There was an old family fable that she was actually the daughter of the man she believed to be her older brother. I researched his life to try to prove it either way. What I found about him fascinated me so much I wrote a novel about his life. Needless to say, DNA has since proved the family tale incorrect, but it did prove that she was adopted. So I’m always still on the hunt for her birth parents.

I learned so much being a real estate agent but the most valuable lesson I’ve learned is to be yourself and worry about you. Do not compare yourself constantly to other agents and keep focused on your own journey, not everyone else’s.
