The nearby Stockton Bight sand dunes are part of the Worimi Conservation Lands, a 4,200-hectare shifting coastal sand dune system. Guided safaris, tours, and camping are available in certain areas of the dunes. Indigenous quad bike tours are a popular attraction that share the stories, culture, and heritage of the local Worimi people.

Fort Tomaree and Fort Scratchley are historical places to visit that keep details about the military history of the Port Stephens area. Fighter World, a museum dedicated to military aviation, can be found at Williamtown Air Base, halfway between Newcastle and Port Stephens.
