Three atriums containing mature trees and gardens will allow light and fresh air to circulate freely through The Mint apartments in Willoughby.
Three atriums will form a ‘living heart’ at The Mint, the latest apartment development from local company, Ceerose. The atriums are open to the sky, and will allow natural light to filter into the apartments, and facilitate ventilation.
The Mint, Willoughby, extends over a 4,660sqm site at the junction of Mowbray Road, Willoughby Road and Penshurst Sreet. Architects P.D. Mayoh describe the linear design as a ‘village square’, where meandering walkways, shared spaces, and four landscaped terraces, including one dedicated to children’s play, will foster a neighbourhood spirit.
“The atriums will be filled with fresh, clean air and be a welcome change for residents from the usual air-conditioned and artificially-lit corridors and lobbies,” said Mr Peter Hinteregger from P.D. Mayoh. “The juxtaposition of nature and urban environment is a key to making The Mint, Willoughby a successful, sustainable development,” he said.
Two of the communal terraces are at either end of the rooftop, with barbecue facilities for social gatherings, and outdoor seating for private relaxation and enjoying the sweeping city views.
Located in the heart of Willoughby’s high street shops, the five-level development comprises 104 apartments and 154 parking bays. In keeping with the Ceerose philosophy of bespoke design, there are 58 different layouts and no two floor plans are the same. Studios, and one, two and three-bedroom apartments are available. Prices start at $625,000.
“All apartments have plenty of glazing, and many have large terraces and city skyline views,” Mr Hinteregger said. “We’ve used operable aluminium louvres strategically to allow natural light in whilst controlling unwanted glare and heat. Residents will close them for privacy and relief from the sun, or open them to let in fresh air.”
Each apartment has substantial storage space, a discrete internal laundry, quality 100% wool carpet throughout, tasteful styling, video/audio intercom security, and modern communication facilities. Kitchens are streamlined and functional, with practical stone benchtops, sleek polyurethane cabinets and joinery, and Smeg appliances.
The head of residential projects for Savills, Mr Ged Rockliff, says he expects demand for The Mint apartments will be strong. “Willoughby is a suburb where demand far exceeds supply, and property here is tightly held,” he said. “Our research shows just 55 apartments changed hands in the past year, and the median unit price increased by 12.15%."
The Mint is conveniently located only two sets of traffic lights from the city via the expressway, and regular bus services pass nearby.
