Place Manly features Le Bistro Manly, a French style café that buzzes with locals dropping in for Manly's best coffee.
Director of Place Manly, Marc Sorrentino is one of the leading local agents in Brisbane's bayside suburbs of Manly, Wynnum and Lota, with a real estate career spanning more than 19 years.
Proudly local, Marc and his wife Mandy opened Place Manly in 2017, as a concept office with a French style café, Le Bistro Manly, enhancing the village without taking anything away from the local traders. Both the office and café are always buzzing with locals dropping in for the best coffee in Manly and freshly baked croissants, which are sold in their thousands every week.

He believes in giving back to the community by being very active with charities. For the last decade the Sorrentino family has run a Salvos Christmas toy collection, buying presents and inviting friends and community to drop off toys to the office. Last year Marc’s community collected around 700 toys for underprivileged kids.

“I love what I do and really care about doing a great job. I don’t focus on the outcome or the income it will bring, I concentrate on doing the best I can, and success automatically follows. I couldn’t do what I do without the support and love of my family behind me.”
Along with his adoring wife, Marc has grown children, aged between 20 and 30, and two granddaughters who always take precedence over work.

What are your predictions about the 2021 - 2022 market in your area?
I think the market will keep moving ahead and so will prices as I can tell that stock will be in short supply.
Are you noticing a significant change in buyers and sellers after 2020?
Yes, sellers’ expectations are high and buyers are on edge because they can see prices going up.
What advice you would give to vendors for the best outcome?
Do your research; a good agent will add thousands to the value of your home.
Source: Marc SorrentinoWhat advice do you give buyers?
Don’t expect prices will go down. The longer you leave it, the more you’ll pay.
What are vendors saying?
Vendors are asking “what’s the best strategy to sell my home for more?”

What are buyers saying?
Buyers are asking to be informed about new listings.
Where do you see demand coming from?
In my area, many buyers are still locals and also from interstate.
What are your interests outside of real estate?
I’m pretty passionate about my business; my office is unique in the way it also has a proper coffee shop so it’s a bit of a community hub. Where many of my competitors do cold calling or door knocking to get face to face with sellers, I don’t do any of that as they come to me.

Source: Marc SorrentinoI love it, it’s totally unconventional and, let’s face it, I don’t think people like the traditional real estate offering of agents in suits driving fancy cars. I don’t want to brag, but what I’m doing must be working as I’m number 1 in Manly and it’s been like that consistently. Anyone can be Number 1, however year in year out for a long period of time, that’s a lot of harder.
With me, what you see is what you get - a hard working guy giving it a crack and making the most of all opportunities. I’m also very much a family man, I love my wife and kids and now I also have grandkids. I can be closing a $3m sale and the next minute my granddaughter walks into my office and wants me to draw Peppa Pig, I love that.

What is one thing you have learned over your years as an agent?
Be yourself, whatever that is.
