The Real Estate Institute of Victoria will host its Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner this Thursday, 27 October, at Crown Towers. Three finalists have been nominated in each division, with the winners being announced on the night.
We spoke to the finalists in the Residential Salesperson of the Year (Principals) division about their success, and what it mean to them to be finalists in this event.
The finalists were:
Amanda Haimona, principle of Bon Accorde Property Service in Mount Martha, has worked in real estate for 20 years.
Greg Earney, director Methven Professionals Mooroolbark, is a third-generation real estate agent, and has worked in real estate for 20 years.
Tim Heavyside, director and auctioneer with The Fletchers Group, is an award-winning agent and sought-after auctioneer.
Q: Why do you believe you were nominated for the REIV award for excellence?
AH: I feel that I offer a refreshing approach to real estate by keeping it real with a consultative approach. I have established a successful business and career through straight talking, sound advice, integrity and by delivering results that consistently exceed my clients expectations both personally and professionally.
GE: Being a leader, mentor, coach and trainer for our sales team of 27 agents is my core main focus. While I do list and sell for my own personal clients and still love doing so I am spending more time on growing the business, building the brand and developing our sales team. What really excites me now is seeing our team members personally growing their own individual sales businesses within our business. Seeing them achieve their goals is exciting. I love selling and looking after my clients but my role is more than that – its about the team, the business and the building of our brand.
TH: I am completely dedicated to servicing my clients to the highest levels possible and I believe my nomination reflects my passion for our wonderful industry.
Q: What do you love most about your job?
AH: I genuinely enjoy people, really listening to my clients and responding to their individual circumstances. My proudest achievement being the lifetime friendships I have developed from the business and being able to contribute to the wonderful Mount Martha community. I am passionate about this wonderful industry and believe that I have the ‘best job in the world’.
GE: Every day is different – seeing a team member grow their sales numbers, or put on a PA, or achieve that goal of buying a home or an investment property, acquiring their dream car or taking their family on that overseas holiday they have always wanted that’s what I love most. And I just love seeing them grow. The other aspect is I still enjoy working with my clients - some of which I have assisted numerous times over my 19 year career. Working 5 minutes from home, being involved in the local community and the reputation that our business has within the community is something I'm extremely proud of and still get the joy of being involved with.
TH: Helping people – this includes vendors, buyers and my incredible team at Fletchers.
Q: What does being a finalist mean to you?
AH: I feel honoured to be recognised for my achievements and those of my team. I am mindful of leading my team from the front and practicing the philosophy I preach – ‘Positive thinking, positive results’. I believe that I am part of a truly exciting industry made up of very talented professionals. This nomination is also recognition for the important role that women contribute to our industry.
GE: Its an absolute honour, to be a finalist is something Im very proud of and extremely humble to be even in the running.
TH: I am honoured to be nominated and feel very privileged to be one of the finalists in this prestigious category. I’m passionate about the real estate industry and I can’t wait for the awards night to come around!
