Just because you may be self-isolating and unable to go to that real estate interview, doesn't mean you aren't in for a chance with that job.

Jessica Mayes, Director of Iconic Recruit said thanks to software meeting platforms such as Skype, Facetime and Zoom, a prospective employee can still attend interviews. 

"With social distancing in full swing, facetime/skype/zoom is now the primary way for employers/recruiters to conduct interviews," said Ms Mayes.

"It is so important that you put as much effort into your presentation for a facetime interview as you would in a real-life interview."

Tips that Ms Mayes suggested include:

• Dress for success and as if you were meeting the employer/recruiter in person
• Make sure you are in a quiet room without distractions
• Choose a spot in front of a plain wall or anywhere that has a plain backdrop (no messy bedrooms etc)
• Make sure you are in an area where you can speak loudly and clearly
• Make sure there is good lighting

Ms Mayes said the effort you put in says a lot about you as an employee.

"First impressions last," said Ms Mayes.

"Good luck to anyone with upcoming interviews."
