SCA Australasia is urging all voters and parties to consider the future of the 5 million Australian’s who live in strata dwellings as they head to the polls on Saturday.
SCA Australasia has focussed on a key set of national priorities.
National Priorities include:
- Higher education standards and professional standards for strata professionals
- Transparency and fair remuneration in strata
- Strata inclusive sustainability initiatives
- Smart urban planning and building quality policy
SCA Australasia President Josh Baldwin said 15% of Australian’s live in strata and they deserve to be recognised and prioritised in Canberra.
“We’ve taken strong policy positions in the lead up to this election on issues where the federal government can provide leadership, funding or direct action to positively influence the strata industry, and strata living.
“We have a plan and a vision for the future of strata management and living in Australia, which we’ll be relentlessly pursuing with whoever forms government,” he said.
SCA Australia had significant achievements over the last term of government, including:
- Recognition by the Australian Bureau of Statistics through ANZSCO (Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations) of strata manager as a distinct occupation.
- SCA is one of several key stakeholders guiding the expansion of energy efficiency tools and regimes to apartment owners through DCCEEW (The Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water) and the NatHERS scheme (National Housing Energy Ratings).
- NEVS (National Electric Vehicle Strategy) – Strata dwellings recognised as a priority for inclusion and investment.
- Key federal – state partnership investments in solar for apartments in NSW and Victoria.
- Northern Australia Cyclone Reinsurance Pool – SCA remains a key stakeholder as the reinsurance pool attempts to deliver savings to strata buildings.
