BizCover, the online business insurance company, has released a new study revealing the most sought-after professions in Australia, based on Google search data.
According to the study, "Real Estate Agent" was the most searched job in Australia, with over 37,300 average monthly searches. Other top-searched jobs include Justice of the Peace (JP), psychologist, pilot, and paramedic rounding out the top five.
The research analysed Google searches made between August 2023 and July 2024 for over 700 job roles combined with the phrase "how to become a [job role]." By incorporating location data and ranking each role based on search volume, this study identifies the most sought-after careers both nationwide and in specific regions.

The public sector continues to be a major focus in job searches across the country, indicating a strong interest in healthcare and emergency services careers. Professions such as Justice of the Peace (25,500 searches), Psychologist (21,500 searches), and Paramedic (18,900 searches) rank among the top five most in-demand roles

Health-related professions are consistently among the most searched roles. Psychiatrist (18,600 searches), Nurse (11,710 searches), and Physiotherapist (11,540 searches) highlight the focus on mental and physical health services. The interest in these roles indicates a continued emphasis on healthcare professionals amid ongoing public health concerns.

Professions in business and finance, such as Mortgage Broker (14,760 searches) and Project Manager (9,470 searches), remain among the most searched. This suggests that financial management and advisory roles continue to be crucial in Australia’s job market.
Creative and Design Roles Attract Attention:
Creative professions such as Graphic Designer (2,570 searches) and Photographer (2,720 searches) are among the searched roles, reflecting the growing demand for visual and creative arts professionals in various sectors.
Surge in Public Safety and Emergency Services:
Roles like Police Officer (12,420 searches) and Firefighter (12,000 searches) show significant interest, indicating a need for public safety and emergency response professionals.
