The Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA), on behalf of our Real Estate Institutes, will next week (1 November 2023) convene a REIA National Property Management Roundtable (the Roundtable) to discuss the issues that matter and make an industry wide action plan for property management over 2024.
REIA President, Hayden Groves said REIA’s membership recognises more needs to be done to support rent roll businesses through Australia’s rental crisis, and on a national basis.
“The role of the property manager is becoming increasingly more complex at a time when both investors and tenants alike are heavily reliant on their expertise. The Roundtable aims to deliver much needed thought leadership on how to address the issues currently impacting Australia’s housing needs.
“The political and media environment surrounding rental properties has never been more intense and we need to work together as an industry to provide the best possible experiences for our tenants, our investors and our employees.”
Mr Groves said the Roundtable will result in a working party of property management leaders to put together a concrete action Property Management Action Plan (PMAP) to implement over 2024.
REIA Deputy President, Leanne Pilkington said the challenges in Australian property management business have continued over 2023.
“Be it people and culture, recruitment and retention and lack of availability of rental listings property management businesses have a lot to navigate. The Roundtable is a first step to create a better national forum to share ideas, best practices and for leaders to direct a plan to help all consumers in the rental transaction.”
Topics covered at the Roundtable will include but are not limited to:
The Roundtable is a direct deliverable of the REIA 2025 Strategy and will be Co-Chaired by Mr Groves and Ms Pilkington.
It is anticipated the PMAP will be launched in January 2024.
