Property peak body Strata Community Association (SCA) congratulates Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party on their victory in the 2022 Federal Election.
“We have started to awaken the sleeping giant that is the strata sector that has the potential to deliver massive change for the Albanese government’s agenda on issues like housing affordability, renewable energy and climate change and cost of living pressures,” SCA National President Chris Duggan said.
“We have worked hard to put ourselves on Labor’s radar while in opposition in the media, through meetings and phone calls and securing a response to the policy priorities we outlined in our industry’s election campaign.
“Specific Labor policies such as Labor’s Powering Australia plan and investment in solar banks and community batteries will benefit greatly from strata industry participation, as will the new government’s plans for retrofitting buildings for resilience.
“SCA has engaged with all sides of politics on behalf of the 5 million people who live in strata to deliver a more sustainable, higher quality and more affordable built environment, and we look forward to working with MPs and Senators from all parties in the coming days and months.
“I would like to take the opportunity to thanks outgoing Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the government for their service to the country and notably their action to introduce a Reinsurance Pool in North Queensland, which we are very pleased receives support from the new government,” said Mr Duggan.
Sustainability in strata, insurance affordability and availability, and a better quality environment are property peak body Strata Community Association’s (SCA) top priorities for future governments to address, ahead of the upcoming federal election.
