Due to COVID-19 the 2020 HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards were announced online for the first time in HIA history on 29 May, successfully showcasing the winners and finalists to a wide-reaching national audience.
The recent 2020 HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards, announced online due to COVID-19 restrictions, have awarded BJ Millar Constructions from Queensland the coveted HIA–CSR Australian Home of the Year.
According to the judges, the winning home is a sophisticated nod to brutalist architecture and tropical modernism, masterfully crafted with an extraordinary level of customised detail.
Understatedly elegant, the home’s unique design experiments with volume and space under a floating roof, revolving around lush, open-air garden atriums.

The vibrant space offers a barbeque, built-in fireplace, sunken lounge and pool for the homeowners to enjoy while overlooking the Gold Coast’s Coomera River.
The home also won HIA Australian Custom Built Home, partnered by Beacon Lighting Commercial.
A partnership between North Queensland’s MyStyle Homes (Qld) and Kim Duffin Design took out HIA Australian Bathroom Design partnered by Caroma Industries and HIA Australian Kitchen Design partnered by Miele.

“Extensive workspaces and amenity ensures this incredible kitchen is equally liveable and practical,” the judges commented.
