Solaire Properties & ARP Building have won the Master Builders QLD Brisbane Housing and Construction award for Excellence in Sustainable Living at the annual awards on Friday, July 05 at the Royal International Convention Centre, Brisbane.
Their recently developed home, La Fleur, in the Brisbane suburb of Auchenflower, took out the award after analysis of areas such as innovation, workmanship, degree of difficulty, ventilation and design, solar design, building materials, and construction and efficient use of energy and water.

Solaire Properties Managing Director Harley Weston said, “This win is confirmation that we are leading the charge for environmental change in the construction industry and I couldn’t be more proud of our team.”
The Solaire Properties team kicked off the year with the sale of La Fleur prior to completion and breaking the street record, selling for over $1 million more than the previous street record.
The five-bedroom La Fleur is the third property for Solaire Properties, with another, Vanquish, currently under construction on the adjoining property.
The team worked with architectural firm Joe Adsett Architects, taking an existing 1920’s Queenslander home, and transforming it into a "home of the future".
The design has maximised both natural cross-ventilation within the building and energy efficiency throughout and similar to Bellevue, it’s carbon footprint is minimised by using more environmentally-friendly materials.
The home features an Intelligent Home Access Control system which can be accessed through a smart-phone or watch, the latest control 4 home automation system, energy efficient home technology, solar and battery storage with real-time energy use and a freshwater swimming pool.
This development minimises its carbon footprint by using more environmentally-friendly materials such as fly-ash and recycled slag in concrete, Chain of Custody timbers, insulation manufactured from recycled plastic bottles and energy-efficient lighting.
Mr Weston added, “This is just the beginning for the Solaire brand. We are going the extra mile to build beautiful, innovative, state of the art smart and sustainable homes, with the long-term intention of sharing our knowledge to improve the standards for house construction relating to sustainable design, supply chain management, and responsible waste management”.
Master Builders’ CEO, Grant Galvin, congratulated all the winners across the 55 categories.
“This year’s Awards program highlights the quality and range of building happening around Brisbane. It’s exciting to celebrate such great craftsmanship and the quality building practices of our members,” Mr Galvin said.
“The diversity was inspiring, making picking the winners a real challenge for the judges. It also highlighted the broad spectrum of the building industry where our members work.
“The Housing & Construction Awards provides an opportunity to recognise this talent. It’s humbling to know that for over 30 years, the Awards continue to be sought-after by the state’s top builders and tradespeople.”
