Community Housing Canberra (CHC), the largest not-for-profit community housing provider in the Australian Capital Territory, is looking for a Director for its Board.
Their vision is for "safe and secure homes in strong communities" and their mission is to provide affordable homes, and with over 1,300 Canberrans currently housed by CHC, it's safe to say they're living up to both.
CHC has been delivering homes for the community in the ACT for the past twenty years, and are continuously seeking to grow their impact by increasing their volume of affordable rental properties under management.
"CHC currently owns and manages over 400 properties, each rented out at below-market rent to eligible lower-income Canberrans. CHC delivers this through a professional team of experienced tenancy and property managers," CHC Chief Executive Officer Andrew Hannan told WILLIAMS MEDIA.

CHC is seeking a suitably qualified Director for its Board, with a specific skill-set and expertise in real estate property management, and with a passion and commitment to make a difference in helping provide housing and related services to low-moderate income Canberrans.
This new appointment, along with the existing seven Directors, will ensure the Board can provide appropriate oversight and direction to management in the planned establishment and operation of a new philanthropic real estate property management arm of CHC, based on the HomeGround model currently operating in Melbourne and Sydney.
CHC Chief Executive Officer Andrew Hannan explains this new property management arm will allow the organisation to help more people experiencing housing stress.
"The planned establishment and operation of a new philanthropic real estate property management arm within CHC will enable expansion on the number of affordable rental properties under management, and thus help reduce the number of lower-income Canberrans currently in housing stress," Mr Hannan told WILLIAMS MEDIA.

"Growth of the new property management arm will be helped once legislation is tabled and passed that would see landlords contributing properties to such a scheme being eligible for ACT land tax concession – such a concession is signalled in the ACT Housing Strategy released in late October.
"CHC is also in the process of seeking an ATO tax ruling, as has been achieved for HomeGround operations in Melbourne and Sydney, that would see the quantum of rental subsidy provided by landlords treated as a charitable donation.
"CHC property management fees will be competitive when compared to commercial real estate agencies," Mr Hannan continued.
