Encompassing a variety of well-known individuals across architecture, academia, property and government, the jury will approve the winning design and architecture team for the Southbank by Beulah project in Melbourne.
A selection of highly-regarded individuals in their respective fields have been chosen as the decision makers on the first major mixed-used design competition of its calibre.
Southbank by Beulah, a project that will have an end value of at least $2 billion, could potentially be Victoria's largest single-phase project of its kind, encompassing hotel, residential, commercial, retail and cultural.
Comprising seven individuals, the jury includes Jill Garner, Jury Chair and Victorian Government Architect, Marc-Heinrich Werner, CEO of BMW Group Australia, Prof Thomas Kvan, former Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Melbourne and the Director of Australian Urban Research Information Network, Cameron Bruhn, the Editorial Director of Architecture Media and Adelene Teh and Jiaheng Chan from Beulah International.
Beulah Managing Director, Jiaheng Chan, said it is important the appointed jury have a shared vision of seeing Melbourne continue to be the most vibrant and livable city in the world.
"We're very excited to be working alongside such a strong lineup of individuals, who each boast a wealth of knowledge and extensive experience within their fields," he told WILLIAMS MEDIA.
Shortlisted entrants for the project have already been announced and make up some of the biggest names in architecture, including Bjarke Ingels Group, Coop Himmelb(I)au, MAD Architects, MVRDV, Office for Metropolitan Architecture and UNStudio.
These candidates will present their initial concepts to the jury on Thursday 17 May. The jury will then select the winning design in July.
A public symposium will also be held in late July, where the public can view each firm's design and vision for the project.
