A beachfront trophy home has sold for a Sunshine Coast record of $22 million through agent Nic Hunter of Tom Offermann Real Estate.
Noosa holiday homes have been confirmed as the hottest property market in the country with the record $22 million sale of a seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom beachfront trophy home.
The sale is the highest recorded for the Sunshine Coast.
Agent Nic Hunter of Tom Offermann Real Estate confirmed to SCHWARTZWILLIAMS the sale had taken place. He said the listing price was $22 million, though the actual sale price is confidential. Details of the buyer were also not disclosed.
“We respect their (the buyer's) privacy and would never divulge any details, especially price prior to settlement," said Hunter.
"Naturally everyone is curious. After all, property sales such as this, are not every day transactions."
The trophy home, located at 21-23 Webb Road, Sunshine Beach, had been on the market only eight weeks.
The grand residence's interiors are by award winning international designer David Hicks, and the resort-style home sits on a 3,595sqm absolute Sunshine Beach-front site.
Two weeks ago, Pat Rafter's house, which is only a few streets away, set a new Sunshine Coast benchmark of $18 million.
While Webb Road the result is extraordinary, it falls short of the Queensland record set in 2008 when businessman Tony Smith sold five beachfront blocks of adjoining Gold Coast land, including a half-built mansion, for $27 million.
The Noosa market is driven by holiday makers, according to Tom Offermann of Tom Offermann Real Estate. Many think of it as an extension of the Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney markets. The Noosa market has been dubbed ‘Toorak in shorts’ for Melburnians because there is such a large number of investors and sea-changers from the Victorian capital.
“Add expats from London, Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore who have been very active in the past year,” said Offermann.
“Running an agency with myriad clients from all over the world creates different challenges compared to typical domestic agency, but it’s always exciting."
