Elizabeth Bennet's home in the much-loved BBC series of Pride and Prejudice, starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, is on the market for almost $14 million.
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.”
In this famous opening line to Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen sums up the two interconnected themes of her much-loved novel: vast fortunes and the importance of marriage.
Over the course of the novel, the protagonist, Elizabeth Bennet, tries to escape her humble family and their modest circumstances.
The very home she was escaping in the BBC series is now for sale - and it's actually lovely. It comes with a price tag of $14 million (£7.75 million).
Named Luckington Court, and located in the picturesque Cotswolds region amid rolling green hills and quaint villages, the home contains original Tudor features and 16th century remodelling. It has eight bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
The estate is 64 hectares, and contains five buildings as well as the main home, including farm buildings, and five kilometres of river frontage on the River Avon.
It's not Mr Darcy's Pemberley, but it's still pretty special.
