In acknowledgement that real estate can be a stressful industry to work in, Laing + Simmons has announced it will provide free counselling services for employees.
Real estate is well known as a high-stress industry, with huge pressure to achieve a small number of large deals. And those work pressures can often sit alongside other common pressures of modern life.
Laing + Simmons has announced it will provide free counselling services to staff who may be struggling with stress, depression or anxiety.
The services will be available to all employees in its more than 40 offices in New South Wales.
Employee Assistance Services Australia will provide the services, which will remain confidential, with Laing + Simmons footing the bill.
Laing + Simmons Managing Director, Leanne Pilkington, said, "Making services such as these available recognises the many and varied issues people from all walks of life have to deal with, and is our way of caring for our team members like family.”
Real estate is known to be a high-stress industry, said Pilkington.
“Real estate is a rewarding but demanding industry. It can be stressful," she said.
Pilkington said the services can be used for personal matters, not just work-related issues.
“It’s not just about supporting our people in a work sense, but in whatever aspect of their lives they might need help,” she said.
EASA Regional Manager and Counsellor, Gina Mammone, said, “Personal issues don’t just go away when you arrive at the office, nor do work issues stop after business hours.”
The program was launched in August, and has already been accessed by staff.
