There were numerous suburbs within the metropolitan area where Perth tenants could rent a house or unit for less than the city's overall median price of $400 a week.
Wembley, Armadale and Kelmscott topped reiwa.com’s list of the most affordable Perth suburbs to rent in the three months to February 2016.
REIWA President Hayden Groves said the latest reiwa.com data showed that there were numerous suburbs within the metropolitan area where Perth tenants could rent a house or unit for less than the city’s overall median price of $400 per week.
“Unlike the eastern states where rental affordability remains an issue, housing affordability in Perth’s rental market has improved considerably over the last 18 months. With good choice available you are now more likely to find a rental property that ticks all the boxes and secure a competitively priced lease,” said Groves.
Wembley was the only suburb of the eight suburbs that made reiwa.com’s list of most affordable rental suburbs with an upper quartile rent price that exceeded Perth’s overall median. Groves said this shows that improved affordability in Perth’s rental market has occurred across all price ranges. “If you’re living in shared accommodation you might find that you can now afford to take that next step and move out into a smaller place of your own,” said Groves.
