For the first time in its history, the Australasian Auctioneering Championships will be staged in Alice Springs.
The Australasian Auctioneering Championships will this year be held in Alice Springs, an event which will provide a boon to the local economy, says the Real Estate Institute of Northern Territory.
There has already been an enormous response from people interested in travelling to The Alice for this annual event, most of whom have never travelled there before and are looking for something very different in their normal schedules, said Quentin Kilian, Chief Executive Officer of the Real Estate Institute of Northern Territory. "It is for this reason that we believe this event will draw one of the largest audiences brought together for the AAC," said Kilian.
The Australasian Auctioneering Championships provide an opportunity for the most professional and skilled auctioneers that New Zealand and Australia have to offer to compete against one another. The championships are conducted jointly by the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand and the Real Estate Institute of Australia. The event is hosted each year by a different state or territory Real Estate Institute and every fourth year the event is hosted in New Zealand. This event attracts an illustrious line up of real estate leaders from all across the region.
First held in 1993 to provide both countries with an opportunity to showcase their best auctioneers, the event actually began in Tasmania and was devised as a competition between the Tasmanian auctioneers and their New Zealand counterparts. It has since spread across Australia and New Zealand and has become the most prestigious event on the auctioneering calendar. Devised bidding processes test the auctioneers’ aptitude, attention and ability to think on their feet. To be successful, competitors have to deal with a wide range of testing questions and unpredictable bids. Combining skill, professionalism and technical knowledge, the contestants are highly accomplished and high-energy performers. The quality of these auctions is truly exceptional; participants need to create momentum in the bidding while building rapport with the crowd.
The 2016 event will commence on Sunday, September 4 and conclude on Friday, September 9.
