The winners of the 2015 International Architecture Awards for Australian architects overseas.
Originally from Perth, Kerry Hill AO set up his architecture practice in Singapore in 1979 and has become renowned for his hotel designs in tropical Asia. His practice, Kerry Hill Architects, has just taken out two awards in the 2015 International Architecture Awards from the Australian Institute of Architects International Chapter, awards that recognize projects by Australian architects overseas.
Kerry Hill Architects’ Seven Palms Sentosa Cove was awarded in the residential design category, along with Aman Tokyo, the firm's re-interpretation of a Japanese garden in a six-storey hotel lobby. The jury described this project as "by far the most sophisticated submission of [the Interior] category."
Seven Palms Sentosa Cove is a bespoke low rise apartment development in the tropical Singapore climate. The interior planning of the apartments incorporates wide sliding doors and operable partitions.
All awarded projects will be in the running for the 2015 Jørn Utzon Award for International Architecture, which will be announced at the 2015 National Architecture Awards on 5 November in Brisbane.
