Designing a home for their friends and fellow surfers, Tasmanian architects Poppy Taylor and Mat Hinds understood the lifestyle of their clients and created a residence to match. The result, Lagoon House at Clifton Beach just outside Hobart, is a home that reflects its owners' lifestyle of camping, surfing and gardening with two entrances – one for visitors, the other for service. The service entry is where the owners can hose down their wetsuits and enter the home through a large laundry.
Lagoon House by Taylor and Hinds Architects has just won the Esmond Dorney Award for Residential Architecture – Houses (New) at the 2015 Tasmanian Architecture Awards, a remarkable achievement considering the home is the first project by Taylor and Hinds Architects.
