Morris Property Group's Mayfair project breaks ground.
Construction has started on Mayfair, the only new apartments in Canberra's CBD being built by local developer Morris Property Group. The firm previously built other apartments in Canberra, including Kingston Place in Kingston and Governor Place in Barton, and is currently exhibiting its Mayfair project at the 2015 Beijing Luxury Property Expo to attract property investors from the Chinese market.
Mayfair is located at 45 West Row, Canberra City, and will include 191 one, two and three bedroom apartments and retail stores. “Mayfair has been designed to encourage inner city living and I look forward to seeing a micro community emerge when residents move in towards the end of 2016," said Louise Morris, Director of Morris Property Group. "They will have easy access to some of Canberra’s best restaurants on West Row as well as a new dining precinct on Alinga Street, with cultural hubs such as the theatre district and New Acton both an easy walk away. We also have plans for a Melbourne-style laneway running between Mayfair and next door’s Canberra House, which will include a variety of retail and food outlets."
Colliers International Director Derek Whitcombe said that more than 80 apartments had been sold to date, with the greatest interest shown by owner occupiers. The development is one block from ANU. The display suite is at 40 Alinga Street, Canberra City.
