In only the past decade we have come a long way towards narrowing the gender imbalance throughout business. That isn’t to say more work is needed, which does, however it is encouraging to reflect on the progress and remain excited for the future.
We are seeing gender balanced cabinets in politics, more and more females represented in positions of power throughout the business landscape, and increased opportunities that did not exist previously.
In a recent survey done for the National Broadband Network, the surveyors found that there was a 2.4 per cent jump in female self-employment in regional Australian towns connected to the NBN while they expect 52,200 more to start up their own business by 2021 due to NBN access.
With global trends pushing for change, and women leading from the front, their presence is being felt throughout the entire economy.
Here in Australia, we are currently witnessing the number of women investing and purchasing property far outpacing that of men.
Some have assessed this as being the result of a drop in the gender pay gap leading to an increase in disposable income, while others highlight the record female employment growth also being a contributable factor.
One thing is for certain, women are showing they are a real force in the property market and ones that are intent on continuing this accession.
At AdeptoCo we have seen this firsthand with our female clients unfailingly distinguishing themselves as the number one decision maker when buying property.
Under this pretext, we have adapted and innovated to place these considerations at the heart of what we produce and deliver.
Leading by example we have introduced attentive amenities and wish-lists designed and influenced by women and placed at the centre of our developing process. Two examples of this are our priority on natural light in key rooms, and that of storage.
Following consultation and feedback from our customers and would-be purchasers, it was evident that natural light specifically in the bathrooms and bedrooms is a key driving point for our female clientele.
This has been included in our design process after the point was driven home to us on multiple occasions, while also seeing it be included in their purchasing decision process.
Secondly, the importance placed on unique and dynamic storage options around the house that are incorporated into existing space was a request constantly arising.
We have taken this one step further by redesigning our joinery cupboards with extra shelves and space that open up further storage options through innovative design.
Although these seem like simple changes, their impact has been immense. Our female customers are driving demand and with it the requirement for us to adapt and innovate.
By recognising this and modifying our offering, we are ensuring AdeptoCo is well placed in the exciting new property environment.
Going forward, any developer discounting this area of the market is doing a disservice to their business model and should rapidly seek to include and promote the female voice.
