You have marketed and sold many beautiful homes designed by some of Brisbane’s best known architects including Shaun Lockyer and Donovan Hill, even purchasing your own James Russell masterpiece.
What are the benefits of living in an architect designed home?
In general, architectural homes are designed to maximise humanity and liveability for the occupants, while developers tend to sacrifice liveability with designs to maximise square meterage and profit.
Buyers of architectural homes are prepared to forgo certain spaces to maximise liveability and experience.

Do homes designed/re-designed by well-known architects attract a premium? Why?
Absolutely they do. It’s because the curation of careful design invokes an emotional response in the buyer.

What are the benefits of engaging an architect to build or renovate a home?
An architecturally designed home is a series of inspirational spaces which constantly excite the occupant.

He has an affinity for sympathetically updating grand classical homes to bring them into the 21st century while also designing grand contemporary homes.
What advice would you give to someone looking to engage an architect to design or redesign their home?
When you engage an architect, you are hiring someone who has the creativity to accomplish the desired result. They understand the elements and how that sequence of spaces will work together for the occupant and the environment.

This includes the orientation of the land to the elements, prevailing weather, light and a myriad of other factors.
Cavill Architects is a good example of architects that work with homes suited to a subtropical environment.
