New data from RENT shows Australia's median rents remained steady in August, with rents for both apartments and houses showing no change.
The national median rent for apartments held steady at $430/week, and the median rent for houses was $420/week, somewhat surprisingly lower than rents for apartments.
Despite the steady market overall, Darwin's median rent fell 8 per cent during the month to $460/week.
Time on market improved across all capital cities except Brisbane, now at 28.1 days. The most significant decrease in time on market was seen in Hobart, down 35 per cent to an exceptional 10.9 days.
Perth could be seeing early signs of a recovery in its troubled real estate market, with a 3.2 per cent increase in the median apartment rent to $320/week.
