An apartment in Breathe Architecture-designed The Commons sold last week through Lisa Roberts and Broderick Turmaine of Jellis Craig.
A two bedroom, one-bathroom apartment in Melbourne's celebrated eco-friendly development The Commons, was snapped up in less than a week for around $200,000 more than standard apartments in the area.
The apartment was the first to be sold on market in the development, though a number have sold off market in the two years since the project was completed.
The Commons is a 24-unit development designed by Breathe Architecture that won numerous prizes in 2014 for its sustainable design. The apartments don't have parking or air-conditioning, and are intended as a small community, with shared resources such as a communal laundry and shared rooftop terrace.
The project's architect, Jeremy McLeod, has chosen to live in the building and become part of The Commons community, which shares an ethos for living a pared back, financially responsible, environmentally friendly lifestyle.
The apartment was bought by an empty nester, though young homebuyers and eco tourists were among the 17 groups who attended the first open house.
