Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and owner of The Washington Post, has bought Washington's former Textile Museum and plans to convert it into a family home.
Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and owner of The Washington Post, has bought the largest home in Washington, the former Textile Museum, and has plans to convert it into a family home.
The Washington Post reports that Bezos paid for the $23 million property in cash.
Located at 2320-2330 S Street NW, the home spans two historic mansions, which housed the Textile Museum for almost 90 years. Both houses are listed as heritage properties.
Bezos' family currently lives in Seattle, and Bezos has not revealed if they will move to Washington.
Plans for the home have been drawn up by well known local architecture firm, Barnes Vanze.
The property is well located for political networking, being in prominity to the Obama's new home, and well as the new home of Ivanka Trump and her husband, incoming presidential advisor Jered Kushner.
