The 10 best new homes that have made the shortlist for this year's Wilkinson Award for Residential Architecture as part of the AIA NSW Architecture Awards have been announced. Homes on the shortlist include the Light House at Dover Heights by Peter Stutchbury Architecture, which features some of the best views in Australia. Stutchbury won the Gold Medal at 2015 Australian Achievement in Architecture Awards in March.
Other homes shortlisted include House for Bob and Susan by Austin McFarland Architects in the Manning Valley, which has been designed to generate its own power, water collection and waste processing, and Nikki Maloney's in Marrickville by Drew Heath Architects, built with 30 per cent recycled materials. Also included is Alexandria Courtyard House by Matthew Pullinger Architect; Balmoral House by Clinton Murray and Polly Harbison; Cooper Park House by Tobias Partners; Courtyard House by Aileen Sage Architects; Cronulla House by Reg Lark Architect; Garden House by Tzannes Associates; and Pacific House by Casey Brown Architecture.
More than 170 projects across 11 categories were entered in the awards, with 79 shortlisted. NSW winners will be announced at Sydney Town Hall on July 2 and progress to the national awards, presented in November.
