The 2015 New Zealand Institute of Architecture conference begins today.
The creative forces behind some of Australia's most stunning residential designs will speak at the 2015 New Zealand Institute of Architecture conference, which starts today in Auckland. Themed In:Situ, the conference runs until Friday and will feature presenters from Europe, Asia, the Americas, Australia and New Zealand.
Australian architects speaking include Phil Harris and Adrian Welke, who are renowned for defining tropical housing in the Northern Territory. Harris and Welke published Australia’s first history of architecture outside of the urban arena, 'Influences in Regional Architecture,' in 1978, and a year later, founded their architecture firm Troppo. Last year, the pair were the joint recipients of the Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medal.
Also speaking is Shelley Penn, a Melbourne-based architect and the former national president of the Australian Institute of Architects, and Andrew Maynard, a Tasmanian architect now living and working in Melbourne. Maynard started his firm Andrew Maynard Architects in 2002 after winning the Asia Pacific Design Award for his mobile work station, The Design Pod.
Here is a look at some of their designs.
