The 'Winter House' is one of four Queen Anne Victorian homes, known as 'The Four Seasons', in San Francisco's famous Haight Ashbusy district.
A landmark property in San Francisco's famous Haight Ashbusy district is on the market with a US$2.75 million (A$3.6 million) price tag.
The house was built in 1896 by shipwright, John Whelan. He built the four family houses next door to each other, and called them collectively 'The Four Seasons'.
The 'Winter House' has been lovingly restored by its current owner, David Keller, an 82-year-old former aerospace engineer, who bought the home in 1978 with his late wife, Virginia Keller, who was also an aerospace engineer. They maintained the home's original exterior, woodwork, floors and ceilings, and restored the property, which had been converted into three apartments, into a single-family home.
The home's restoration was achieved with the help of Paul Duchscherer, a designer who specialises in historic homes, and who was then a designer with Bradbury & Bradbury, a wallpaper company that focuses on traditional prints.
The home has five bedroom, and 3.5 bathrooms. The house is painted blue and has a snowflake medallion on its facade. Next door, The Spring House is cream house and has a medallion of flowers, The Summer House is pale blue and has a fruit and vines medallion, and The Fall House has a medallion of a sheaf of wheat.
The Haight Ashbury district is noted for its large, historic homes, and an absence of higher-density dwellings.
The property is listed with agent John Didomenico of Pacific Union International.
