It has been a busy 30 years in business for LJ Hooker Lithgow principal, Jamie Giokaris, who has just clocked up more than 3,000 property sales in and around his hometown west of the Blue Mountains.
Mr Giokaris first joined Australia’s most iconic real estate brand as a 21-year-old university graduate and hasn’t looked back. He later became a partner in the business before becoming sole owner in 2010.
His stellar record of property transactions was recently tabulated across his three decades in the business. The total number of sales was a happy surprise for the Lithgow local who loves the diversity of selling property within the regional hub.
“We are a busy office and tend to have a high turnover of property - I don’t often look at my overall stats so it was wonderful to find out I had hit the 3,000 mark,” Mr Giokaris said.
“The beauty of working in this area is that it offers a massive variety that keeps the enthusiasm levels up and there is always something happening.”
“I could be selling a basic two-bedroom fibro cottage one day and the next day, it might be a an executive residence worth over a million dollars, a commercial building, an industrial complex, or a 100-acre farm.”
General Manager of Network, Stephen Mutton congratulated Mr Gokaris on reaching a significant milestone in his career describing him as the ‘ultimate real estate professional’.
“Jamie has complete dominance in his market but more importantly, we see him contribute and assist not only his own team and his community but also the LJ Hooker network,” Mr Mutton said.
“He is someone who gives back generously with his time and wisdom, and we are very grateful to have someone like Jamie with not just his character and skills but also his professionalism in the LJ Hooker Group.”
Mr Giokaris was also recently ranked among the Top Ten Agents in Regional NSW by Sales according to realestate.com.au after recording almost 100 sales last year and is a multiple winner of LJ Hooker’s International top agent for number of transactions.
During his 30 years in the industry, he has witnessed a number of changes such as the evolution of technology as a tool for both selling property and engaging with clients. The flip box of contacts, which once sat on his desk, has been replaced by emails and databases.
The town of Lithgow, which is known as the birthplace of Australian iron and steel, has also undergone significant changes. When Mr Giokaris started selling real estate, properties at the lower end of the market were priced between $30,000 to $40,000. Today the town’s median residential house price is around $450,000.
“Lithgow is getting closer to Sydney in terms of travel time and there is a wave of investor interest from the western suburbs coming over the Blue Mountains to us,” Mr Giokaris said.
“The town is travelling well employment-wise and it is a popular location in terms of weekenders. While we have seen prices rise significantly over the past 30 years but it still offers affordable investment opportunities.”
