The existing path is pedestrian-only between Riverwalk and Bunya Walk.
The upgrade is part of the Brisbane City Council’s four-year, $100 million path and bikeway program.
The council has not revealed how much the Riverwalk upgrade will cost.
Deputy mayor Adrian Schrinner told 'The Brisbane Times', “The proposed Botanic Gardens Riverwalk will see a six-metre wide, separated and bi-directional cycling and pedestrian pathway extend the City Reach Boardwalk 176-metres to the Botanic Gardens’ Bunya Walk.”
And additional five mooring facilities will be established along the path, and a viewing platform will be added.
The Council is asking residents to provide feedback, submissions can be made until February 28. Click here to make a submission.
On February 20, 22, 24, the Council will hold information sessions about the upgrade.
