The transformation of Millers Point continues with another ten heritage properties listed for sale.
The NSW government has announced it will sell another ten terrace houses in Millers Point.
The ongoing sale of historic government homes, as well as the Barangaroo development and several high-profile residential projects, is transforming the north-western corner of the CBD, which once mainly consisted of social housing.
The following terraces will be auctioned by McGrath on 8 June:
- 75 Kent Street, six bedrooms
- 81 Kent Street, six bedrooms
- 123 Kent Street, four bedrooms
- 7 Dalgety Terrace, six bedrooms
- 9 Dalgety Terrace, three bedrooms
- 5 Lower Fort Street, five bedrooms
- 20 Merriman Street, three bedrooms
- 22 Merriman Street, one bedroom
- 19 Windmill Street, three bedrooms
- 27 Windmill Street, three bedrooms
All heritage listed properties sold in Millers Point will have included in their contracts for sale Conservation Management Plans endorsed by the NSW Heritage Council. The contracts are aimed at ensuring new property owners understand the responsibilities associated with buying heritage listed property.
Brett Newman, Government Property NSW CEO, said, “This new tranche of properties will appeal to buyers because it offers a broad mix of properties across five different precinct locations.”
“There continues to be strong market interest in these well-located properties,” Newman said.
A total of 80 Millers Point properties have now been sold, delivering more than $218 million to government coffers to be reinvested into 1,500 new social housing dwellings, with 590 new fit-for-purpose social housing dwellings already built to date.
Minister for Family and Community Services Brad Hazzard said, “We have close to 60,000 vulnerable people on the public housing waiting list and every new sale in Millers Point, on average, enables us to build up to five new dwellings in western Sydney,” he said.
“The Millers Point sales mean more families across the state will have a roof over their head and a place to call home,” he said.
